His first chart-topper "Mandy" (written by Scott English and Richard Kerr) was originally titled "Brandy." The song toppled Elton John's rendition of "Lucy in the Sky with Diamonds" from the number one chart spot in January 1975.
He was awarded a Star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame for Recording at 6233 Hollywood Boulevard in Hollywood, California.
Is a good friend of Donna Summer, who did a successful cover of his 1975 hit "Could it Be Magic".
